Read 1 John 3:1
Listen to “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us” (if this song is not in your library, get it!)
What was our part in the death of Christ? Are we simply two millenia removed the those events? Or are we somehow tied to them?
The thought that it was my sin—my own, personal yet-to-be-committed sin—held Him on the cross absolutely blows my mind and breaks my heart. I love using this song in worship services. If I could get away with it, I would use it every week. But I have a hard time singing it because I take this song very personally. It was my sin on His shoulders. It was my voice among all the others crying, “Crucify Him!” But, amidst all of that, His dying breath gave me life. I can’t wrap my mind around that to this day, and I’ve been a follower of Jesus for almost thirty years. Why would He do that? How deep the Father’s love for us!
And we can boast in one thing: Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection.
Go and boast in your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His wounds have paid your ransom.
