Red Mountain Music

Justin Taylor and at least one other blogger I read (sorry, I forgot) have previously mentioned the music of Red Mountain Church. Their music isn’t available for download, so you have to get it the old fashioned way. You have to order it and wait for it to be delivered a few days later; that’s so 2004.

When I was leaving town for a conference recently, I ordered the Red Mountain Music CDs before I left knowing they would be waiting on me when I returned. I burned them to my computer and loaded them onto my iPod. Still, I hadn’t any time to listen to the CDs until my son started school a few weeks ago. On the way to school we listen to his Suzuki violin CD (I’m really getting very close to trying to extinguish the star’s twinkle). But for the last few days, after I drop him off, out comes Suzuki and on comes Red Mountain Music. This is very good and enjoyable music. They set old hymns to new music (unless the old tunes are very familiar) with an almost imperceptible (well, actually it is noticeable) a country/bluegrass/folksy feel.

Really good stuff. Listen to samples here.

Comments

  1. Funny. People say that often, about the country / bluegrass / folk feel. It’s not intentional; I think it just has a lot to do with being in the deep south, and the musicians we work with tend towards those genres.

    Anyway, thanks for listening!

  2. Thanks for visiting IsaiahSix, Brian. And thanks for producing a unique resource for the Church.
