In upcoming posts I’ll be interacting with David Whitcomb (an Upstate South Carolina pastor) and Mark Ward, Sr.’s True Worship. The authors’ goal is to “avoid the rhetoric of either side [traditional and contemporary], to refrain from comment on any particular worship practice or style, and to confine ourselves to what the Scriptures say.”
It is indeed a noble and necessary goal to look to scripture for guidance in worship theology. I look forward to interacting with the book and sharing my thoughts along the way. I have actually worshiped at Dr. Whitcomb’s church and found it to be a biblically solid church, so I have no doubt this book will carry the same theological fortitude. Feel free to interact along the way.
